Set within one of Dublin’s most storied buildings, this project redefines Delahunt’s cocktail experience through a design that bridges past and present.
The new menu system translates the restaurant’s literary and historic spirit into a bold, cinematic visual language, merging timeless elegance with contemporary edge.
Delahunt is a contemporary Irish restaurant and bar on Dublin’s Camden Street, housed in a historic Victorian building once mentioned in James Joyce’s Ulysses. The interiors retain the character of the old grocer’s shop, while the upstairs ‘sitting room’ has been transformed into a cocktail bar, celebrated for its speak-easy charm.
The brief was to reimagine the cocktails menu, updating the restaurant’s classic identity with a contemporary design language that reflects both its literary heritage and the cinematic atmosphere of its bar. The visual approach fuses the timeless, understated elegance of Delahunt with the bold graphic aesthetic of Frank Miller’s Sin City.
The result is a striking menu system that uses a limited color palette, noir-style illustrations, and strong typographic contrasts to capture the drama and intimacy of a cocktail experience rooted in Dublin’s cultural past and alive with contemporary energy.
